Oklahoma Joining Short List Of Football Programs To Wear Jordan Brand Uniforms

Oklahoma has partnered with Jordan Brand in a deal that will see the school become "only the third college football program to represent the Jumpman brand on the field," according to Eric Bailey of the TULSA WORLD. OU will join North Carolina and Michigan when the Jordan Brand logo appears on jerseys beginning with the '18 season. The partnership also "will include the men's and women's basketball teams." OU "will likely retain its department-wide deal with Nike for other sports." Jordan Brand merchandise "will begin to hit retail" next summer. Clippers F and former OU player Blake Griffin on Thursday helped "introduce the new look to the men's basketball team." The partnership is a "win-win situation for both OU and Nike." OU is a "national brand and will likely increase sales for the gear," while the school also can "gain traction from being one of the only universities with such an exclusive deal with the Jordan Brand" (TULSA WORLD, 11/10). In Oklahoma City, Brooke Pryor notes the move to Jordan Brand "likely won't greatly alter the uniforms." The move is "just another way that first-year head [football] coach Lincoln Riley is leaving his mark on the program without veering too far away from Sooner traditions" (OKLAHOMAN, 11/10).
