Non-Nike NBA Players Rolling Down, Cutting Off Top Of Socks To Cover Up Swoosh Logo

Nike is in its first year as the maker of NBA uniforms and the company has also "replaced the sockmaker Stance for the official sock of the NBA," but some players "seem to be going out of their way to hide some of the Nike swooshes" on their socks, according to Cork Gaines of BUSINESS INSIDER. Warriors G Stephen Curry is the "face of Under Armour in the NBA," and since Nike took over the uniform contract, Curry has been "rolling his socks down, which hides the swoosh." A source said that there is "nothing in the NBA's operations manual that would prohibit a player from rolling down his socks." Rockets G James Harden is the "NBA face of Adidas" and had previously "rolled his socks down in a similar manner to Curry." But he "appears to now be going to the extra length of just cutting the top of the socks off and removing the Nike logo altogether." Harden "appears to have cut the top off his socks in at least" four games this season. Gaines noted photo archives show that "both Curry and Harden had their socks extended" during the '16-17 season and "did not appear to make any attempt to hide Stance's circular logo" (BUSINESSINSIDER.com, 11/7).
