Dana White Seeking Boxing Promoter's License; Says UFC Wants To Do Boxing

UFC President Dana White said yesterday that he formally is "in the process of attaining" his boxing promoter’s license, according to Lance Pugmire of the L.A. TIMES. White said he is "not leaving the UFC." He clarified he is "getting into boxing" with Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel and added the UFC "will be doing boxing, too." White said, "It’s still early. We’re still working on it." Pugmire notes White during the promo tour for Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Conor McGregor "piqued speculation that he was mulling a potential move to boxing by wearing a Zuffa Boxing T-shirt." One pursuit White "could explore is dealing with" Premier Boxing Champions Founder Al Haymon, who has "nearly 200 boxers in his stable and hires different promoters for certain fights." But White said, "Al and I haven’t talked about this at all. We’ll see who’s interested when I say, ‘Let’s do this'" (L.A. TIMES, 11/8). SB NATION's Anton Tabuena notes White has "yet to say what their boxing entity will be called, whether it’s actually Zuffa boxing or if it will have the UFC branding or something to those lines" (SBNATION.com, 11/8).
