Missouri Men's Basketball Season Tickets Sold Out; Student Ticket Sales Double From '16

Season tickets for Univ. of Missouri men’s basketball are "officially sold out, with student ticket sales doubling" from '16 and public season-ticket sales "reaching a Mizzou Arena record with 9,572," according to Will Jarvis of the Columbia MISSOURIAN. The 15,600 season-ticket packages sold "outnumber the 15,061 capacity of Mizzou Arena, but the athletic department has a tradition of overselling student packages because of frequent no-shows." MU Athletics announced "total sales of student ticket packages at 6,028 -- the most sold" since the '13-14 season and "more than double" last year’s 3,008 packages (Columbia MISSOURIAN, 11/8). In K.C., Aaron Reiss notes the arrival of new coach Cuonzo Martin and top recruit Michael Porter Jr. have "reinvigorated the Tigers fan base." MU student tickets for last month's charity exhibition against Kansas at Sprint Center "sold out within a minute" (K.C. STAR, 11/8). In St. Louis, Dave Matter notes Mizzou Arena has "not had a sellout since a victory over Arkansas on March 5, 2013, during Frank Haith's second season as coach." MU will have "4,000 student tickets available to claim per game." Only a "limited number of single-game tickets will be available during the season, and only when unclaimed by visiting teams or returned by MU students." MU's ticket sales should be a "boon to the athletics department's revenue stream after sales have lagged the last several years." Martin said, "The response from Mizzou fans and the excitement here in Columbia and around the state of Missouri has been outstanding" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 11/8).
