Fox Business Picks Up Stanford-Washington State After Long Delay During Fox Game

Stanford-Washington State on Saturday only appeared on Fox in local TV markets because of a "lengthy lightning delay" for Penn State-Michigan State, and the rest of the country was "only able to view" Stanford-WSU on the Fox Business cable TV net, according to Theo Lawson of the Spokane SPOKESMAN-REVIEW. PSU-MSU kicked off at 12:00pm ET, but did not restart until after 4:30pm with "nearly eight minutes remaining" in the second quarter (SPOKESMAN.com, 11/4). AWFUL ANNOUNCING's Alex Putterman noted the delay in East Lansing "dragged on long enough" that Fox could show the first half of Stanford-WSU around the country, but that was "only a temporary solution." Fox could have "bumped one of the games to FS1," but Oklahoma-Oklahoma State was "already squaring off there" (AWFULANNOUNCING.com, 11/4).

WAITING ROOM: THE ATHLETIC's John Walters noted for the second time this season, the Fox crew of Joe Davis, Brady Quinn and Bruce Feldman "experienced a frustrating episode of footballis-interruptus." The crew was covering PSU-MSU and Feldman spent hours "scrambling for updates on when the contest would resume and foraging for the essentials: food and an outlet to charge his phone." While Feldman "huddled in the tunnel of Spartan Stadium, Davis and Quinn actually visited a student cafeteria for some grub" (THEATHLETIC.com, 11/5).
