Marketplace Roundup

KENTWIRED.com's Simon Hannig reported the NBA, the Cavaliers and subscription-based company Sports Crate have "agreed to a partnership deal." The subscription for the NBA Sports Crates will "start at $29.99 per month, and will be delivered in the form of a bi-monthly subscription, with the contents including exclusive team-focused products." Sports Crate has 10 MLB teams and 13 NBA teams "available on their site for fans to purchase gear from" (KENTWIRED.com, 10/31).

CRACKING DOWN: In Detroit, JC Reindl reports the sides of downtown buildings "have become hot real estate for big retailers and brands that want the attention of the city's visitors and residents." But "nearly all" of the signs, from the likes of Apple, Shinola, Meijer, Fifth Third Bank and the Pistons, will have to "come down by Dec. 31 as the city cracks down on building owners who have been violating what was once a seldom-enforced ordinance against such advertising." The Julian C. Madison Building "currently displays a banner for the Pistons" featuring a giant-size profile of C Andre Drummond (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 11/1).

ON THE BIG SCREEN: In Green Bay, Kendra Meinert notes Packers LB Clay Matthews, QB Aaron Rodgers and WR Randall Cobb appear in a teaser trailer for Marvel Studios' "Thor: Ragnarok." The spot shows Rodgers and Cobb with a "cushy seat to watch the gladiatorial contest that pits Thor against the Incredible Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger, in the movie." The players are "seemingly unfazed by who is next to the them on the couch: Jeff Goldblum in character as villainous dictator the Grandmaster and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the god of mischief" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 11/1).
