The Mariners named Lakers Dir of Sports Performance Analytics Dr. LORENA MARTIN to the newly created position of Dir of High Performance. Martin will oversee the club's "medical, strength and conditioning, mental skills and nutrition departments" (THENEWSTRIBUNE.com, 10/30)....White Sox VP & Assistant GM BUDDY BELL is leaving the organization and will return to the Reds as Senior Advisor to President of Baseball Operations & GM DICK WILLIAMS. Bell "spent the last five seasons in his current role with the White Sox" and was Dir of Player Development for three seasons before that (NBCSPORTS.com, 10/30)....BK Racing CMO DOUG FRITZ has left the NASCAR team to pursue other opportunities. Though there have been questions about the financial health of BK Racing in recent months, Fritz said this is unrelated and that the indication from team Owner RON DEVINE is that he plans to be on the grid at the '18 Daytona 500 (Adam Stern, Staff Writer)....The NHL named former NHLer SHANE DOAN to a role in the league's hockey operations department. He will "work closely" with NHL Senior Exec VP/Hockey Operations COLIN CAMPBELL (AP, 10/26)....Miami Univ. (Ohio) promoted Development Coordinator of Intercollegiate Athletics PAUL BLAND to Dir of the Red & White Club (THE DAILY).
