Golden Knights Partner With Transportation Commission To Bus Fans To T-Mobile Arena

The Golden Knights have "teamed up with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada" to develop four nonstop bus routes "serving areas with the largest number" of season-ticket holders, according to Art Marroquin of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL. The bus service was "launched during preseason" and "offers rides from four pickup locations in the Las Vegas Valley for $2 each way." Just more than 200 riders "usually board the Golden Knights Express buses each way." However, RTC Senior Transit Operations Planner Jacob Simmons said that the system "could carry five times that number." The Golden Knights "will provide $156,000 worth of advertising and marketing to promote RTC transit services through digital display boards, media campaigns, ticket giveaways and the team’s website" in exchange for RTC covering $156,000 worth of operational costs to run the special bus routes (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 10/30).

BEAT 'EM TO THE BOARDS: In Toronto, Kevin McGran noted the Golden Knights are "not only off to one of the best starts an expansion team has ever experienced," they are "off to one of the best starts in the NHL." Golden Knights GM George McPhee said, "Every team hopes for a start like this, but it rarely happens. But I think we have to keep things in perspective: It’s a start. It’s not a whole season." The franchise has made an "impressive first impression, not only on the ice but off it with sellouts for each of their home games" (TORONTO STAR, 10/28).
