MLSE's Larry Tanenbaum Becomes First Canadian To Be Elected NBA BOG Chair

MLSE Chair LARRY TANENBAUM was unanimously elected NBA BOG Chair, replacing T'Wolves Owner GLEN TAYLOR, who held the position since '14. Tanenbaum, who reps the Raptors at the league level, is the first person from a Canadian NBA team to become BOG Chair (John Lombardo, Staff Writer). In Toronto, Ryan Wolstat noted Tanenbaum has "served on the NBA Advisory/Finance Committee" since '08 and was part of the Planning Committee from '00-14. He also had "stints on several other committees, including Labor Relations and Expansion/Realignment." Tanenbaum initially "tried to bring the NBA to Toronto" in the early '90s, as part of an unsolicited bid, but the league "decided to pursue expansion and opened the process to other bidders and Tanenbaum’s group was not selected." Tanenbaum, who "became a part owner" of the Maple Leafs in '96, "helped bring about the merger of MLSE and the Raptors and the move to the Air Canada Centre" (TORONTO SUN, 9/29).
