Washington Capitals fans who used the Monumental Sports Network app to stream Wednesday’s preseason game were able to switch between four different camera angles while also rewinding, replaying and sharing clips.

Monumental Sports Network — a digital platform serving the Washington D.C. region that was live streaming its first Capitals game on a simulcast with CSN Mid-Atlantic — is also planning to bring this interactive and personalized viewing capability to some upcoming Washington Wizards preseason games as well, according to Senior Vice President and General Manager Zach Leonsis.

Capitals fans who used the app to watch the game on desktop, tablet, mobile and OTT streaming devices were experiencing the multi-camera functionality built by Kiswe Mobile. During the team’s 4-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils at Capital One Arena, fans could choose to watch the team’s lone goal from different angles.

One camera angle was dedicated to following around winger Andre Burakovsky on the “Burkie Cam.”

Another camera angle focused in on the view of the Capitals’ bench.

Monumental Sports Network partnered with Kiswe on the multi-angle interactive video technology last month, as Leonsis and his father, Monumental Sports & Entertainment founder and CEO Ted Leonsis, are investors in the company. Fans watching Monumental-owned teams in the Washington Mystics (WNBA), Washington Valor and Baltimore Brigade (Arena Football League) have also had access to choose between four camera angles. It works for high school games on the network as well.
