BONX Provides Outdoor Sports Enthusiasts With Group Talk Technology

Japanese technology company BONX has entered the U.S. and Canadian markets with a product that targets outdoor athletes and adventurers who want to communicate with a group from anywhere in the world.

The BONX Grip is a hands-free Bluetooth earpiece that enables cellular network-based group communication with unlimited range for up to 10 users. That provides snowboarders, cyclists and climbers a device and companion group talk app for communication with friends while in the harshest of environments.

Through machine learning, the device learns and adapts to sound environments so voice activity can be detected. The microphones have multi-layer wind and noise reduction technology and only transmit when a user speaks, preserving battery and minimizes cellular data usage. And the open-back earphone ensures safety by allowing the user to hear surrounding noise while providing a comfortable fit.

“Based on my own experience snowboarding around the world, I recognized there was a universal need for better hands-free communication, enabling enjoyment of the outdoors with no distractions of pulling out a phone from a pocket or dangling ear phone cables,” BONX founder and CEO Takahiro Miyasaka said in a statement. “The scope of the opportunity was only strengthened via strong interest from international distributors at tradeshows and excitement from global top-tier athletes.

“We chose North America as the first step of our global expansion, because of the variety of sports and activities everyone participates in.”

BONX Grip was successfully crowdfunded in 2016 and has its North American headquarters in Seattle and a satellite office in Vancouver, Canada.

It may be purchased at www.BONX.co and select retailers for $139.95.
