MLB Franchise Notes: Sherman, Jeter Meet With Marlins' Execs; Tigers Tix Becoming Cheap

In Miami, Barry Jackson reports prospective Marlins Owners Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter "met with 14 team executives Tuesday and Wednesday at Marlins Park." A team official who attended one of those meetings said that they were "respectful, engaged and asked a lot of questions." Sources said that Sherman and Jeter "did not tell the executives whether they would keep their jobs or their plans for the organization, including a targeted payroll number." Jeter also did not "disclose how often he planned to work out of the Marlins' Miami offices" (MIAMI HERALD, 9/8).

TIGER BY THE TAIL: In Detroit, Brian Manzullo wrote with a handful of games remaining at Comerica Park and the Tigers going "absolutely nowhere, folks are trying to unload their tickets on secondary-market sites such as StubHub in droves." If fans "want to go all the way down to the on-deck circle," they can get a ticket for as cheap as $17-20. The prices "do increase for weekend games, but not by much" (FREEP.com, 9/7).

EMPTY FEELING: In Atlanta, Tim Tucker noted the Braves "might have drawn their smallest crowd Wednesday afternoon for a home game since moving to Atlanta" in '66. It was reported there were "less than 1,000 people on hand for the first game of a day-night doubleheader against the Rangers, the makeup game from Tuesday night's rainout." The lowest recorded home attendance figure in Braves history was 737 on Sept. 8, 1975 (AJC.com, 9/7).
