Facility Notes

Delaware North Sportservice and musician Kid Rock, who is from Detroit, have collaborated on a restaurant at Little Caesars Arena, the new home of the Red Wings and Pistons. Kid Rock’s Made in Detroit, described as a contemporary food and music eatery, will feature classic Detroit and Southern-influenced dishes, plus local beers and craft cocktails. The restaurant also will showcase local talent, and Kid Rock’s memorabilia will be on display. Separately, Sportservice, the building’s concessionaire, will run the District Market at the arena, a 7,600-square-foot food hall. Kid Rock christens the facility with a string of six concerts Sept. 12-20 (Don Muret, Staff Writer).

EVALUATING THE Q SCORE: The Cavaliers ended a deal to renovate Quicken Loans Arena earlier this week, and in Cleveland, Kevin Kleps wrote he does not "agree with the speculation" that Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert will "move the team" when its lease expires in '27. But the Cavs "aren't happy, and they're taking a hard-line stance on this." From their standpoint, this was as "sweet as the deal was going to get." The first half of this year was the "busiest ever at The Q." The arena is also "punching a little above its weight, hampered some by its age and the city's 8% admissions tax." Its current success is a "credit to the Cavs' organization" (CRAINSCLEVELAND.com, 8/29).

PARKS & REC: In Las Vegas, Alan Snel reports the owner of the Triple-A PCL Las Vegas 51s has "hired general contractor PENTA" to build a ballpark in Summerlin. Howard Hughes Corp.'s "hiring of the well-known local general contractor is the first tangible sign toward construction of the ballpark." Clark County Commission Chair Steve Sisolak said that he is "unaware of Howard Hughes Corp. submitting any formal application or plans for the ballpark," which is only a half-mile or so south of the Golden Knights hockey practice facility and HQ (LVSPORTSBIZ.com, 8/29).
