Monumental Sports Network Partners With Kiswe Mobile To Revamp Video App

Monumental Sports Network is "looking to engage a younger, digital-first audience through a new partnership" with N.J.-based Kiswe Mobile, according to Andrea Cwieka of the WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL. The network's video app will get a "major revamp as a 'choose your own adventure' style set-up, through which users can choose among four camera angle video streams while watching." Through Kiswe, subscribers to the app will be able to "select from four different angles during game livestreams and share clips on social media." The "interactive streaming experience will only be available" for WNBA Mystics, AFL Valor and AFL Brigade games. MSN VP & GM Zach Leonsis said of app users versus TV viewers, "We have the ability to go directly to the consumer and grow our secondary subscriber base while our primary subscriber base growth slows down, even begins to decay." This Kiswe rollout "follows another Monumental foray into the digital realm -- the network's app also offers on-demand esports programming." MS&E Chair Ted Leonsis has controlling interest in esports franchise Team Liquid. Leonsis said that Monumental is "more focused on driving engagement than gaining new subscribers with this partnership." But he "declined to comment on subscriber or app user numbers." The app "launched almost a year ago." Zach Leonsis also said that he is "happy with its progress" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/15).
