KYMIRA Sport Launches Apparel For Cyclists With Infrared Technology

With the human body estimated to waste over 890 watts of energy during cycling, a new range of sports apparel says that it will help recycle up to a fifth of this waste while training or competing.

According to KYMIRA Sport, its new line of clothing designed specifically for cyclists can increase tissue oxygen levels by up to 20 percent. It is able to achieve this as its clothing using KYnergy Infrared technology that contains a thermo-reactive textile called Celliant. With up to 60 percent of consumed human energy lost due to body heat escaping, this technology is able to capture this heat and turn it into infrared energy. This energy has been clinically proven to promote circulation, increase tissue oxygen levels and also regulate the body’s temperature. By contrast, most other sporting apparel either traps or vents this body heat.

The new clothing is broken into two products, the PrO2and Onyx, and they are available worldwide. The PrO2 retails at $169 while the Oynx range sells for $149.

“Research into Infrared and our technology has provided evidence that it can increase blood flow and tissue oxygen levels during training and competition, which results in an increase in overall performance and accelerated recovery,” KYMIRA Sport CEO and founder Tim Brownstone said in a statement. “This allows a cyclist to push harder, cycle further and recover quicker between sessions.”

The company was founded by CEO Brownstone in 2013, during his final year at the university of Reading. The company was most recently awarded at SXSW this year as the Best Bootstrap Company.
