Notre Dame Ready To Debut Football Stadium Enhancements For Sept. 2 Season Opener

Notre Dame is "nearing completion" of its football stadium renovation project, and fans in attendance for the season-opener Sept. 2 will be "able to experience many of the new amenities" that are part of the $400M Campus Crossroads Project, according to Litman & Watson of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. The project included "construction of three new buildings and fan enhancements to Notre Dame Stadium." Improvements include a "much-anticipated 96-by-54-feet HD video board, new seating throughout the bowl (and wider seats in the lower bowl), WiFi and a new cellular network to improve service inside the stadium, plus renovated restrooms and concessions." There are also "new locker rooms for Notre Dame players and visiting teams, as well as an upgraded recruiting lounge" (INDYSTAR.com, 8/11). The SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE noted the renovation includes 3,000 "new premium seats." The seats are on "both the west and east sides of the football stadium, and they are part of the new glass structures that now hover over the building." The premium seats offer an "indoor viewing area on stools, as well as covered and padded seats outdoors." They also lead to "outdoor terraces, featuring couches, lounge chairs and tables and views of the field." Also, on the west side of the stadium, the premium seat area "includes access to a large, two-level ballroom" (SOUTHBENDTRIBUNE.com, 8/11).
