This Week In Sports Tech: NFL TV Ratings, Ravens Mixed Reality, Patriots Fancam And More

Here are the top stories in sports technology from this past week:

The NFL just released data on TV ratings from the 2016 season. Even after television executives everywhere blamed the election for poor ratings, is it possible football’s TV audience is still growing?

As this football season gets going, the Baltimore Ravens will start incorporating mixed reality into their game-prep. No word yet on how easy it is to tackle a hologram.

We’ve all seen extremely high resolution photos of stadium crowds that allow users to zoom in on themselves in the nosebleeds, but now the New England Patriots are going to automate this process; an exciting step in the technology’s evolution.

Donald De La Haye, now former kicker for UCF, just got in a big fight with the NCAA over monetizing his YouTube channel. The NCAA revealed the reasoning earlier this week, and there doesn’t seem to be a happy ending here.

And, Madison Square Garden just announced that it’s moving into the ever-growing esports realm in a big way.
