Media Notes

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill may be in need of season-ending surgery, and ESPN.com's Jeff Darlington cited sources as saying that Jay Cutler "would be willing to delay his broadcast career at Fox to play" for the team. Dolphins coach Adam Gase helped Cutler "revitalize his career when he was the QB's offensive coordinator with the Bears" in '15. But Cutler "plans to consider such a move only if he gets the chance to be the full-time starter (and get starter money) for the entire season." But sources said that Cutler is the "one who has the initial interest in playing for Gase, and the Dolphins have not yet gone down that road" (ESPN.com, 8/3).

SWIM CLUB: In N.Y., Keith Kelly writes SI’s "move to sign its own models is seen as a way to capitalize on the buzz that its swimsuit edition helps create." In the past, models and their talent agencies "reaped most of the benefits." The move into modeling also is "likely to elevate the status" of SI Swimsuit Editor MJ Day (N.Y. POST, 8/4).

READY FOR HIS CLOSE-UP? FS1’s Jason Whitlock said HBO’s “Hard Knocks” this season, "It's great TV. It's the best part of training camp." Whitlock said of whether Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston can handle being on the show, "Winston loves the camera, but I don't know if he has the self-awareness of how he comes off" (“Speak for Yourself,” FS1, 8/2).

TEEING OFF
: The AP’s Jon Krawczynski notes Warriors F Andre Iguodala is parlaying his “interest in golf into a job with Turner Sports covering the PGA Championship” in Charlotte next week. Iguodala will be a “'special contributor,' appearing on camera during the broadcast and providing content on social media” (AP, 8/3). Turner Sports and the PGA of America also will offer a redesigned suite of digital products for the PGA Championship, focusing on broadened video integration and responsive optimization for mobile viewing (Turner Sports).
