Smart Buckle Turns Classic Or Contemporary Watch Into Fitness Tracker

Technology company Gooseberry has introduced a new fitness tracker called Smart Buckle that can replace traditional clasps on even Swiss luxury watches.

For those who don’t want to wear fitness bands, the stainless steel Smart Buckle is made to fit more than 500 brands of watches that feature standard 20-millimeter leather, silicon, and fabric straps.

The Smart Buckle is embedded with motion sensors and software to track steps, sleep, calories burned, distance traveled and time. No longer are these features exclusive to fitness-first brands. Instead, timeless classic watches as well as new newer stylish watches can be utilized for the same capabilities with the Smart Buckle.

The data that the Smart Buckle tracks can be monitored on a smartphone app that is available on iPhones and Android devices. It is compatible with Apple Health and Google Fit. The battery for Smart Buckle requires one 60 minute charge per week.

Smart Buckle was developed by entrepreneurs Alexei Levene and Shripal Gandhi, who looked to combine their passion for style and fitness. Levene explains this vision, saying in a statement, “We saw that there was a gap in the market to bring elements of fitness and sleep tracking to people who want to wear their normal watch. The Smart Buckle brings those features to a watch you already love without compromising your style.”

Gandhi commented on the difficulty of the design of the product, adding in a statement, “It was a massive design challenge to miniaturize all the electronics into the smallest form factor. It took all our years of experience to do this, while at the same time matching the beauty and contemporary curves of the most stunning watches.”
