ANGEL MCCOUGHTRY "stepped away from her sport for a season and opened an ice cream parlor" in Atlanta. But McCoughtry said that she is frustrated that the WNBA "has not promoted her venture." McCoughtry: "If you go look on the WNBA page, I don’t think you’ll see me and the ice cream shop. Why not? I’ve done so much for the league. Why am I not on there? Why haven’t you guys posted something about the ice cream shop? Is it because I’m sitting out? Who cares? I’m getting rest. Give me something. Nothing else against the league or the WNBA, but you guys have to promote us and what we’re doing to show people she’s doing something in her community." HIGH STAKES GAME: UNLV has "hired a lawyer" after seeing the Raiders' first stadium proposal for Las Vegas. The school retained N.Y.-based Herrick Feinstein attorney DANIEL ETNA to "advise the university in negotiations." The retainer can "extend up to two years, though talks with the Raiders likely need to wrap in the next few weeks." Etna’s services will cost $745 per hour. UNLV Dir of Media Relations TONY ALLEN said that the university is also consulting with local attorneys from Snell & Wilmer (LAS VEGAS SUN, 7/21).
HOW 'BOUT THEM ARTWORKS: Cowboys Owner JERRY JONES' wife, GENE, is the "curatorial force behind The Dallas Cowboys Art Collection, which recently expanded" from AT&T Stadium to The Star at Frisco. Gene put together a seven-member council that "critiques and curates the pieces before they're acquired and installed." Both Gene and her daughter, Cowboys Exec VP & Chief Brand officer CHARLOTTE JONES ANDERSON, are members of the council. The Cowboys Art Collection has "grown to 78 works by 53 artists." It started with "19 works of art at AT&T Stadium and has almost quadrupled in the nearly eight years" it has been open (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/21).
