Syracuse AD Looks To Avoid Losing Home Football Games During Dome Renovations

Syracuse AD John Wildhack declined to provide a timetable for Carrier Dome renovations, but said that one of his main priorities is to "avoid losing a home football season" at the venue, according to Mike Waters of the Syracuse POST-STANDARD. Wildhack said, "I don't see a scenario in which you play 12 games away from the Carrier Dome.'' Waters noted the university originally "revealed a plan to build a new roof over the Carrier Dome's existing one in order to avoid playing football games away from home for an entire season." Wildhack "offered very few specifics on the Carrier Dome renovation project," but he did mention an "overhaul" of the locker rooms. Wildhack: "We've made progress in terms of identifying what we want to do and what's most important. It's incredibly complex. I think it's important that we take the time to get it right." Waters noted Syracuse fans have "called for more comfortable seating and wider concourses." Wildhack "appears to have heard them." Wildhack: "What's really important to me and all of us is the fan experience" (SYRACUSE.com, 7/20).
