CSN Philadelphia Parts Ways With Two Veteran Reporters As Restructuring Continues

CSN Philadelphia reporters Dei Lynam and Tim Panaccio "are out," making them the "latest in what has become a long list of personalities to exit the station in recent months," according to Rob Tornoe of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. Lynam was a veteran broadcaster and longtime 76ers reporter, and Panaccio covered the Flyers since '09. Veteran broadcaster Ron Burke was "shown the door in January." Before that, longtime Phillies reporter and anchor Leslie Gudel "parted ways with the network in October, months after the sudden departure of her former co-host, Neil Hartman." The moves are "part of a shift in programming away from original reporting to more opinion and debate" (PHILLY.com, 6/28).

TAKING IT TO THE TWEETS: Both Lyman and Panaccio took to Twitter to confirm their departures, and they were greeted with warm words from fellow media members. Lynam: "It's been a blast to cover sports for CSN since the day they opened shop." Panaccio: "The business of reporting is rapidly changing and so am I. ... Thanks to everyone at the network and, of course, the Flyers. Third period ends. Overtime next." WIP-FM's Glen Macnow: "Two pros who made CSN worth watching won't be there anymore. I thank @dlynamCSN and @tpanotchCSN for years of good content." Philadelphia Daily News Sports Editor Rich Hofmann: "A great run at CSN for @dlynamCSN -- in a tough business and a tough town. Knowing your stuff matters. That's why she has mattered." FanSided's Brian Michael Jacobs: "Someone has to hire @dlynamCSN TODAY. I've been watching the NBA my entire life and nobody cares more about the game than her. 2nd to none." SB Nation's Broad Street Hockey feed: "It’s the end of an era in Flyers coverage as Tim Panaccio departs CSN." Yahoo Sports' Greg Wyshynski: "Best of luck to @tpanotchUFA, a great hockey guy who always treated me well even when I was in blogger diapers."
