Pebble Beach Resorts Partner With IBM To Launch Their First Mobile App

The latest to make the sacred pilgrimage to the serene Pebble Beach Golf Links on California’s Monterey Peninsula is Watson, otherwise known as IBM’s accelerated cognitive computing technology.

The Pebble Beach Company in collaboration with IBM launched its first mobile app Tuesday. The app represents an interactive approach by the world-famous golf resort regarding its guest experience.

“Pebble Beach is focused on making its customer interactions even more personal and valuable with the help of Watson,” Noah Syken, IBM’s VP of Global Sports and Entertainment Sponsorships and Client Programs, said in a statement.

And embedded with Watson’s Conversation API, the app will aim to bring the sights and sounds of Pebble Beach to life for the droves of annual visitors, personalizing their customer experience.

Available for download on iOS and Android devices, the app offers some interactive features:

· Virtual Concierge: A conversation with the Watson-enabled concierge feature can help guests discover dining, drinking and shopping options throughout the Pebble Beach properties. Through the Watson Conversation API, the app can provide answers to verbal or typed requests such as, “Where can I get a burger?” or “I need a souvenir for my daughter.” The technology uses frame-based dialoguing, where several options are presented versus command-and-response as seen in other machine learning technology.

· Tours of 17-Mile Drive: Guests can experience the iconic drive along the California coast via two turn-by-turn guided tours: a full tour of the entire 17-Mile route and an express tour for those who want the highlights in a shorter time frame.

· Create My Story: Guests can create a 60-second souvenir movies of their Pebble Beach experience, set them to music and share them on social networks straight from the app.

In addition to the app, the tech juggernaut deployed IBM Planning Analytics in the IBM Cloud to help Pebble Beach manage its retail operations with smarter, quicker and evolving data analysis.

So with all these new improvements to the Pebble Beach experience, the only inefficiencies still lingering on the coastal grounds may just be the above-par golf being played.
