In 2016, Samsung Electronics Canada and the Toronto Blue Jays entered a two-year partnership in hopes of bringing fans closer to the game through experiences in-stadium, online and on Sportsnet.

This season, Blue Jays center fielder Kevin Pillar joined the Samsung team as a brand ambassador. He will take part in special Samsung events as well as be featured in exclusive Samsung content such as a Samsung Gear VR experience.

“We’re proud to lead off this season with the Blue Jays and Kevin Pillar, and are excited to delver immersive experiences through our latest technology and innovation that will bring fans closer to the action,” Mark Childs, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Canada, said in a statement.

New on Sportsnet this year is a Play Under Review feature on Sportsnet powered by the Samsung QLED TV. Shot with a super slo-mo camera, the feature will bring fans details on game-changing plays. A new Radio Frequency handheld camera feature, using the Samsung Galaxy S8 will let fans get behind-the-scenes perspectives after home runs.

“At Sportsnet, we are continually pushing innovation to give sports fans the best and most extensive viewing experience,” Anthony Attard, VP of Sales at Sportsnet, Rogers Media, said in a statement.” And that is precisely why we value our tremendous relationship with Samsung. They share our vision to remain at the forefront of innovation and technological advances.”
