NFL Franchise Notes: Chiefs Charging More For Fans Paying Cash For Gameday Parking

In K.C., Blair Kerkhoff wrote Chiefs fans should "buy parking passes early," as the team has "raised the price of cash parking on game day to $60." Cash parking "cost $40 last season." Purchasing parking in advance will "be $35 on a single-game basis or $30 per game if you purchase the 10-game season package" (K.C. STAR, 4/22).

ROME WASN'T BUILT IN A DAY: In Cleveland, Terry Pluto wrote the Browns are an "easy target with their Ivy League front office and the dismal showing on the field." But the fact is "any team -- especially a bad one -- would love to be heading" into Thursday's Draft with 11 picks, including No. 1 overall. While the team in '14 "had multiple first-round picks and trashed them," the "only way for the Browns ever to dig out of this dismal ditch of being the NFL's worst franchise is through the draft" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 4/23).

ALL GROWN UP? In Orlando, George Diaz notes with the Buccaneers set to appear on HBO's "Hard Knocks," the Glazer family ownership group is "all about brand-building." Diaz: "And why not? They are developing a fine product on the field to go with all the gadgets and gizmos of the game-day experience, including a pirate ship shooting off cannons." But this deal "could go bust and boom, given the dynamics." QB Jameis Winston is the "marquee franchise player," and he "has moved on" from off-field issues at Florida State. But it is "part of his personality, as is that ad-lib persona, which is where" there could be "trouble ahead" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 4/24).

SETTING THE TONE: In San Diego, Tom Krasovic noted three consecutive games at home is a "rarity in the NFL," and QB Philip Rivers sees it as a "September opportunity" for the Chargers in their new L.A. home. Rivers: "You look at, hey, that’s a chance to set the tone, not only for the season but to set the tone for our new place." The Chargers play the Dolphins in Week 2, Chiefs in Week 3 and Eagles in Week 4, all at StubHub Center (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 4/22).
