N.Y. Expresses Interest In '19 NFL Draft; Canton, Dallas Among Other Possible Bidders

N.Y. has "expressed interest" in the NFL Draft returning to the city in '19 "and beyond," according to Gary Myers of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. An NFL source said that there is "no timeline for announcing who will host" the '18 Draft, but it "won’t be" until after this year's April 27-29 Draft in Philadelphia. N.Y. "has not made a bid" but is "just one of several cities competing for future drafts" beginning in '19. But Myers writes, "At least New York is on the list." Radio City Music Hall "seems the likely venue but there could be others, especially with the Philly draft being held outdoors." The other cities in "contact with the league" to host the '19 Draft include Philadelphia, Canton, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, K.C., Green Bay, Jacksonville and L.A. The NFL will celebrate its 100th anniversary in '20 and the Pro Football HOF has "applied to host the draft" in '19 and/or '20. The HOF has "undergone massive renovations in recent years and it seems logical the owners will award at least one draft." Myers notes bidding to host the Draft has "become as competitive as hosting the Super Bowl" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 4/13).
