Nevada AD Says School Is Raising Basketball Season-Ticket Prices To Help Retain Coach

For the second straight season, the Univ. of Nevada will "increase basketball season-ticket prices," according to Chris Murray of the RENO GAZETTE-JOURNAL. Nevada AD Doug Knuth said raising prices is a "way for us and all of our fans as season-ticket holders to do a little extra to help keep" coach Eric Musselman. Knuth said, “That extra revenue will go into his new salary, which will be announced hopefully soon.” Murray noted while no contract has been signed and "no details of the deal have been released, the extension is expected to make Musselman the highest-paid coach in Wolf Pack history by a wide margin." Knuth: "The feedback from fans, the feedback from our board, the feedback from people we’ve talked to has been very positive. Frankly, a lot of folks said, ‘You probably could have done more.’ That’s not our intention, that’s not our goal to be the highest-priced ticket." Nevada "set a single-season average home attendance record last year at 8,923 fans per game," and "six of the top-30 attended games in school history came last season." Murray noted the increase pushes the school "toward the top" of the Mountain West Conference in season-ticket prices (RENO GAZETTE-JOURNAL, 4/11).
