Ryan Lochte Suing Headache Medicine Sponsor Migralex For Reneging On Payments

Gold Medal-winning U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte is "suing the headache medicine Migralex for reneging on a $125,000 endorsement deal," according to Julia Marsh of the N.Y. POST. Lochte "inked the sponsorship with Migralex’s parent company, Ember Therapeutics, on Sept. 27, 2016, just weeks after he was suspended from competing for 10 months" over his run-in with law enforcement in Rio. It is "unclear why Ember Therapeutics never made good on the agreement, although the company had shuttered in 2014 and was revived in 2015 by another pharmaceutical firm." Lochte brought the matter "before an arbitrator who awarded the Olympian $125,000 plus fees." The arbitrator found Lochte “complied with his obligations under the agreement.” Ember "promised that the funds would be delivered, but ultimately failed to make any payments to Lochte" (N.Y. POST, 4/8).
