Warriors Planning To Keep Playoff Ticket Prices At Same Level Or Lower Than Last Year

The Warriors are keeping playoff ticket prices the "same or less than last year," according to Kathleen Pender of the S.F. CHRONICLE. Season-ticket holders will "pay the same as last year for the first three rounds of playoffs" and about 14% "less for the NBA Finals, if the team makes it that far." Single-game tickets for the first round also are "cheaper than last year." Warriors Senior VP/Business Development Brandon Schneider said that the "cheapest ticket for round one will be $125 this year versus $175 last year." Last year, a "stratospheric increase in playoff ticket prices from the year before had fans fuming." In setting ticket prices, the Warriors "analyze transactions on Warriors.com, the team’s resale marketplace powered by Ticketmaster." Schneider said for the '15 playoffs, tickets were on average trading 192% "above what we charged season ticket holders, or almost triple." Schneider: "That contributed to raising prices for last year.” Pender noted for last year’s playoffs, resale prices were only 78% "above what season-ticket holders paid." The team also "surveyed season-ticket holders over the past six months." Schneider said what the Warriors heard is it "was getting expensive.” Schneider: “We received higher marks for the regular season than playoffs. We took that, and said we want to make tickets affordable for our fans.” Pender noted season tickets will be going up 5-25% next season, but Schneider said that is "lower than the previous season’s increase," when they went up 14-28% (S.F. CHRONICLE, 4/8).
