Orlando Magic’s C.J. Watson: Snapchat Spectacles Fun, Convenient For NBA Players To Use

The following is a column by C.J. Watson, a guard in the NBA for the Orlando Magic who has played 10 seasons in the league. Watson founded the Quiet Storm Foundation with his family based around the core values of education, encouragement, hard work and faith. The foundation develops and implements community programs that support students, including presenting annual scholarship awards; encouraging healthy life habits; and challenging students to serve as community leaders. Quiet Storm focuses on Watson’s hometown of Las Vegas, and his current NBA city, Orlando.

I love gadgets and new technology. Any new product that’s used in fun and unique ways interests me. That’s why the Snapchat Spectacles caught my interest immediately. I have a pair, and I really enjoy them. They are cool because you wear them as glasses, but at the same time, you’re recording video that goes straight to your phone.

Learning to use the Snapchat Spectacles was pretty easy. The directions are simple – you charge them, sync them with your phone, and you’re ready to go. They’re fun because they’re convenient. You don’t need to hold your phone and hit record. All you do is hit a button on the glasses, and it automatically starts to record what you’re seeing and sends the footage to your phone.

It’s a really fun tool for NBA players in particular. We usually enjoy the newest and coolest gadgets that are available. These are fun, and everyone is already using Snapchat anyways.

I’m also interested in the business side of things and I have been following the Snapchat IPO. I’ve spoken with my financial advisor about potentially buying some stock and I’ve been keeping an eye to see how it’s been doing. It would be really great to invest in it and hopefully make a profit from it.
