Yankees Become Last MLB Team To Adopt Variable Ticket Pricing, Will Use Five Tiers

The Yankees have "taken a plunge into the world of ticket prices shaped by the winds of market forces" and are "believed to be the last team" in MLB to adopt variable ticket pricing, according to Neil Best of NEWSDAY. Yankees Senior VP/Strategic Ventures Marty Greenspun said that this "seemed like a good time given that the team is introducing changes to Yankees Stadium itself that will add a variety of new ticket products." Best notes the new products will include "such innovations as a standing-room only 'Pinstripe Pass' that give fans access to new viewing areas not accompanied by traditional seats." Greenspun: "We're being proactive with our fans." Best adds the Yankees expect "minimal pushback from fans on the new, more complex pricing structure." There are five price levels in the variable system (NEWSDAY, 3/8).
