NextVR Starts Enabling International Fans To Watch NBA Games In Live Virtual Reality

NextVR as part of its multi-year partnership with the NBA will offer live regular season games in virtual reality internationally — except in China — beginning Thursday when the Portland Trail Blazers face the Orlando Magic.

Fans can watch the eight remaining NBA games scheduled for a live VR broadcast with an NBA LEAGUE PASS subscription or a Single Game pass for $6.99 per game, enabling fans far from an NBA arena to have virtual courtside seats through their headsets. Previously, fans in Canada were among those unable to watch games in live VR, including the two scheduled Toronto Raptors games.

International fans had previously been only able access broadcasts and highlights via video-on-demand, but NextVR put an end to that recently and enabled them to watch All-Star Saturday Night and the All-Star game live in virtual reality with the exception of those in the U.S., Canada and China.

Thirteen international players – including three-time All-Star from Spain Marc Gasol and the first Greek player to ever play in an All-Star Game, Giannis Antetokounmpo – participated in the weekend’s events in New Orleans.
