Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal Says Family Wants To Own Yankees For "Eternity"

Yankees General Partner & Vice Chair Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal said she hopes her family owns the team for "eternity," according to Dan Martin of the N.Y. POST. Swindal, the daughter of late Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner, said, "You never know what life will bring, but we're in it for the long haul." Swindal "helps run the organization’s charitable works and was with several players" yesterday at St. Malachy’s Church in Manhattan, as they "served meals to the elderly as part of the team’s Winter Warm-up." Swindal pointed to the fact that her family has "gotten even more involved with the team in recent years as proof they are committed to holding onto the team." Swindal noted her son, Steve Swindal Jr., is Yankees Coordinator of Baseball Operations. Swindal: "We’re already involved with the next generation" (N.Y. POST, 1/19). On Long Island, Steven Marcus notes Swindal believes her father "would have endorsed the youth movement being employed" by his family with the current Yankees team. Swindal: "He'll be really proud of us" (NEWSDAY, 1/19). Yankees players yesterday also visited the famed Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in Manhattan as part of their Winter Warm-up tour (MLB.com, 1/18).
