ESPN OK With Adam Schefter's Role With Pacific Pro Football League

ESPN said that NFL reporter Adam Schefter is not breaking company policy by participating in the new Pacific Pro Football league as part of the advisory board. An ESPN spokesperson described the board position as unpaid and ceremonial. ESPN emailed a statement to THE DAILY saying, “Adam has a minimal role with the league. He discussed this with ESPN and we are comfortable with it. If a situation developed where he needed to report about the league, we would be transparent about his ties and mindful of situations that could potentially present a perceived conflict.” Fox Sports NFL analyst Mike Pereira also is on the league’s advisory board; the net had not offered a comment by deadline. The league plans to start playing games in ’18 with athletes that come in part directly from high school. Other board members include former NFL coach Mike Shanahan, former NFL exec Jim Steeg and MSNBC commentator Steve Schmidt.
