People & Personalities: Marlins Hire Todd Hollandsworth As New TV Analyst

In Miami, Barry Jackson reported the Marlins and FS Florida have hired former MLBer Todd Hollandsworth "as the new TV analyst on games," where he will work with play-by-play announcer Rich Waltz. The Marlins "used four TV analysts last season -- Eduardo Perez, Al Leiter, Preston Wilson and Jeff Conine -- but preferred to have one analyst for the entire season." They would have "had interest in Perez serving that role, but he was unable to commit to that because of his ESPN gig." Hollandsworth has been "working as a pre-game and postgame analyst" for the Cubs since '09 (MIAMIHERALD.com, 12/22).

MOVING ON: In Boston, Chad Finn notes CSN New England's Bob Neumeier and Sean McAdam "will be let go at the end of the year." Sources said that this "may not" be the last dismissals CSN makes. Finn notes CSNNE is losing "two respected voices and an extraordinary amount of institutional knowledge on the Boston sports scene." Neumeier has been at CSNNE since '10 and McAdam has been there since its launch in '09. CSNNE has "decided to cut back on coverage of Boston teams with which they don’t own the broadcast rights" (BOSTON GLOBE, 12/23).

TIME TO SHINE: SPORTING NEWS' Michael McCarthy noted Fox Sports National Networks President Jamie Horowitz has tapped Cris Carter and Nick Wright to "co-host 'The Herd with Colin Cowherd'" next week while Cowherd is on vacation. The run is a "chance to demonstrate whether they can be hosts on their own, and thereby claim first dibs" on the net's planned national morning show (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 12/22).
