Cleveland Cavaliers’ Richard Jefferson Shoots, Dunks With Snapchat Spectacles

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Richard Jefferson just took his Snapchat followers above the rim in his latest series of Snaps.

While adorning Snap, Inc.s Spectacles, a new wireless piece of hardware where users can send 10-second clips to their account, the 36-year-old Jefferson captured footage of him catching passes from his trainer, shooting from behind-the-arc and even sending home a few dunks.

A 60-second clip started by documenting Jefferson going 5-of-8 from downtown, during which he jokingly quipped at his trainer after missing one his threes.

“Oh, give me a better pass,” Jefferson said, followed by a caption on his Snapchat that read, “always blame the passer…dammit Mike.”

Where the Snapchat Spectacles really came into play was when Jefferson decided to throw down a two-handed dunk, giving viewers a close-up view of the 10-foot rim. He followed with two alley-oop dunks from each side of the basket.

“I jump better from the other side lol,” the caption read along with an old man emoji as he jumped from the left side of the basket. Even Jefferson’s teammates, like LeBron James, are taking notice of his love for the platform.

“They fantastic,” James said of the Spectacles as they walked together through an arena last week.

During the Cavaliers’ 2016 playoff run all the way to a NBA title, Jefferson became a must follow on Snapchat. Whether he’s documenting his training regimen and interactions with fellow teammates such as Chris “Birdman” Anderson — as seen in the above clip — or even heckling James on the team bus after losing a bet to friend Dwyane Wade after the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians in the World Series, Jefferson (rjeff24) is keeping Cavaliers fans and the NBA community abreast on the latest happenings from behind-the-scenes.

Considering the Snapchat Spectacles are still in its infancy, teams are still just getting their hands on the piece of technology. Last month, the Minnesota Wild was the first NHL team to debut the Spectacles while over this past weekend, the Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans all gave their fans a peek via the new medium. Following its 25-16 win at the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Vikings even gave the Spectacles to a few players to wear as they high-fived a couple fans, providing followers a point-of-view they had never seen before on the platform.
