Lawsuit Filed By Packers' Pennel Against NFL, NFLPA Resolved Before Hearing

The lawsuit that Packers DT Michael Pennel brought against the NFL and the NFLPA has been resolved, according to an order issued by a Cleveland federal judge. U.S. District Judge John Adams met with the attorneys for Pennel, the NFL and the NFLPA via telephone yesterday, according to the court docket. "The parties have represented that the matter has been fully resolved, subject to the terms of a subsequent stipulated entry," Adams wrote in an order. NFL VP/Communications Brian McCarthy declined comment. Pennel's attorney and a spokesperson for the NFLPA did not respond to requests for comment. As previously reported, Pennel, who is facing the possibility of discipline for the second time this season, sued the league and the union, asking for a third, neutral arbitrator and for his NFL arbitration hearing set for today to not go forward. The NFL and NFLPA on Friday said in court papers that they had appointed veteran arbitrator Shyam Das as the third arbitrator and that they had continued Pennel's arbitration hearing.
