The D-backs named Cubs Dir of Pro Scouting JARED PORTER Senior VP & Assistant GM, the same title the club gave AMIEL SAWDAYE "last month when he was hired away from" the Red Sox. Before joining the Cubs late in the '15 season, Porter "worked for the Red Sox for 12 years, the bulk of which was spent in the pro scouting department." He will oversee the D-backs' pro scouting operation. The club also promoted Dir of Player Development MIKE BELL to VP/Player Development. Bell has been with the organization for 10 years (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 11/9)....The Phillies named D-backs Assistant GM BRYAN MINNITI Special Assistant to the GM and also promoted Special Assistant/Player Personnel JORGE VELANDIA to the same position. The club also named NATAN WEINBERGER Analyst/Baseball Research & Development and GREG MCMILLIN Int'l Scouting Coordinator. Int'l Operations Coordinator RAY ROBLES was promoted to Assistant Dir of Int'l Operations and ELVIS FERNANDEZ was promoted to Manager of the Dominican Academy Operations (Phillies)....Newly formed outfit Alliance MMA named BURT WATSON Dir of Fighter Relations (Alliance MMA).
