Marketplace Roundup

In Dallas, Evan Hoopfer noted the Univ. of North Texas is paying the Cowboys $7.5M "over the course of eight years" for its deal to be the team's higher-education strategic partner. The contract between UNT and Frisco Management, which "sold the sponsorship on behalf of the Cowboys," expires June 30, 2018 and will "automatically renew for up to three additional two-year periods unless either party opts out." That means the sponsorship "could be active" until '24 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/8).

SALUTING THE TROOPS
: In Tucson, Bruce Pascoe notes the Univ. of Arizona men's basketball team unveiled a new uniform option "designed especially for Friday's Armed Forces Classic game against Michigan State." The uniform "features gray-on-white camouflage, with U.S.S. Arizona across the front of the chest, similar to the gray jersey the UA football team wore for its game with Hawaii" in September. In place of names on the back, the uniforms say "At 'em Arizona," the ship's rallying cry (ARIZONA DAILY STAR, 11/9).

TRYING SOMETHING NEW
: ESPN.com's Brendan Hall noted UCLA for its football game against Oregon State will don an "all-navy blue look Saturday to honor the military, with its classic script helmet logo" in red, white and blue. UCLA, which is recognizing Veterans Day with the new look, is "one of several purists who have gotten quite experimental over the last few seasons" with its football uniforms (ESPN.com, 11/7).
