Franchise Notes

In Minneapolis, La Velle Neal III notes the Twins on Thursday "continued to restructure their baseball operations department" with the hiring of Thad Levine as Senior VP & GM. Levine spent 11 years as Rangers Assistant GM and will "report directly" to new Twins Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey. Falvey was "named to the role a month ago but couldn't start" until his exec duties with the Indians were complete. Levine "essentially will be the No. 2 man behind Falvey, like he was" with Rangers President of Baseball Operations & GM Jon Daniels (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 11/4).

FLY AWAY: In Philadelphia, David Murphy notes the Eagles on Thursday released WR Josh Huff following his arrest for marijuana and gun possession, marking a "dramatic reversal in policy." The Eagles' decision to cut Huff came "less than 24 hours after standing by their man," and by doing so, they "allowed a situation that was well within their control to metastasize into the kind of full-blown embarrassment that seems to follow any major decision they make." The Eagles now "once again walk away from a routine personnel matter looking like a franchise that is in desperate need of a singular voice to speak for it" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 11/4).

NO PLACE LIKE HOME: In Atlanta, Doug Roberson notes expansion MLS club Atlanta United FC is taking steps to "satisfy its supporters who may not be pleased" with the team playing some '17 home games at Georgia Tech's Bobby Dodd Stadium. The team has "worked with Ticketmaster so that seat selections made at Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be in a similar viewing spot at Bobby Dodd Stadium." Atlanta United is "expected to play its home games in Bobby Dodd from the time the season opens in March until possibly late July" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 11/4).
