Crew Hire Consultant Barrett Sports Group To Evaluate Potential Demand For New Stadium

The Crew in an email yesterday told fans the club had hired consulting firm Barrett Sports Group to “evaluate the potential demand for a new multipurpose soccer stadium in Columbus,” according to Evan Weese of COLUMBUS BUSINESS FIRST. The Crew said that a survey given to fans was made to help the team understand their "opinion and potential interest in the project." Crew Dir of Communications Tim Miller "would not say how long the evaluation is expected to take" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/17). The team "opened the first soccer-specific stadium in the country, now called Mapfre Stadium," in '99. In recent years a number of existing teams and expansion franchises have "built soccer-specific stadiums." Barrett Sports will "collect and interpret survey responses" (DISPATCH.com, 10/17).
