New Era Logo To Be Displayed On MLB Caps During Postseason For First Time

For the first time in its 82-year relationship with MLB, New Era will be "visible on the outside of the caps worn by players and other on-field personnel during the playoffs," according to James Fink of BUFFALO BUSINESS FIRST. The New Era logo will be added to the "left side -- and just above the ear -- of each player's cap." The logo will be "visible during all playoff games and beginning next season, it will be on all caps worn by players in the regular and post season." New Era has been an MLB partner since '34. The logo "adds to the New Era sign" on most MLB dugouts, along outfield walls and/or elsewhere in ballparks. Until now, MLB policy has been to "avoid having the manufacturer's logo on its on-field headwear" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/3). USA TODAY's Erik Brady notes the MLB Postseason logo on New Era hats is "easy enough to apply when the caps can be produced in the shop, as almost all of them are." It is much tougher when players "insist on wearing one cap all year." New Era Senior Manager of Team Services Dave Aichinger travels the country at season’s end to "accommodate a handful of such special cases" (USA TODAY, 10/4).
