Gasoline Retailer 76 Signs Deal To Be Presenting Sponsor Of Pac-12 Championship

California-based gasoline retail store 76 has "signed on as presenting sponsor" of the Pac-12 football championship game, according to Michael Smith of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Financial terms of the multiyear deal were not disclosed, but the orange 76 logo will be "integrated into the marks for the championship game for use on-site and across the conference’s linear and digital outlets." The Pac-12 "cannot sell the presenting sponsorship for Fox’s broadcast, so that will be a separate negotiation between 76 and Fox." Much of 76’s promotion will be "focused on the Northern California region," as the game will be played at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. Pac-12 Networks Exec VP Neil Davis said that 76 is planning to include a "sweepstakes and heavy in-store promotion by the stores in the area" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/3 issue).

MOVING DAY? This year's Pac-12 championship game will be played at Levi's Stadium this December for the third straight year, but the Seattle Times' Percy Allen reported Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott "will consider moving" the game when the current contract with the 49ers expires after this season. Scott mentioned L.A., Seattle or Phoenix as potential host sites. The first three Pac-12 title games were played on campus before moving to Levi's Stadium in '14 (TWITTER.com, 9/30).
