On Long Island, Laura Albanese notes Yankees C Gary Sanchez has "taken over the baseball universe," getting off to "one of the hottest starts in MLB history and re-energizing a fan base without much to cheer about recently." Sanchez' No. 24 jersey was "listed as the top seller on Yankees.com" yesterday, ahead of Derek Jeter, Babe Ruth and "every Yankee icon with a plaque in Monument Park" (NEWSDAY, 8/29).

LIFE IS A HIGHWAY: In N.Y., Zach Schonbrun noted semitrailers are an integral part of the PGA Tour, as those "commissioned by Titleist, TaylorMade, Callaway and nearly a dozen other golf brands" haul various equipment to tournaments every week. Nike used to "have one of the glitziest trucks on tour, but that recognition might now belong to Titleist, which introduced its new model" in late '13. This model "features white-lacquered shelving, a DirecTV satellite dish and two pedal pumps for the mineral spirits used for gripping." Golfer Kevin Na said, "They're here for you every week. It's nice to know that if something goes wrong, they can fix it" (N.Y. TIMES, 8/28).

BABY FACE: GOLFWEEK's Beth Ann Nichols noted Lydia Ko has her own "baby face water bottle as part of Evian's Live Young campaign." Evian, a sponsor of the year's fifth major in France, "rolled out of the signature bottle as part of the lead-up" to the event from Sept. 15-18. Ko, who won the event last year, is an "ambassador of the iconic brand" (GOLFWEEK.com, 8/26).

THE A-MAIZE-ING RACE: In Michigan, Taylor DesOrmeau noted NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Alex Bowman and the No. 88 car sponsored by the Univ. of Michigan was in the top five early in yesterday's Pure Michigan 400, before an "ignition failure slowed the car." The UM sponsorship was a "one-race deal through a partnership between Axalta and the school" (MLIVE.com, 8/28).
