ADWEEK's Gabriel Beltrone reported a new spot from JetBlue aimed as a "thank-you ad" for retiring Red Sox DH David Ortiz sees him finding work "at different children's birthday parties -- whacking the literal stuffing out of their piñatas." MullenLowe, Boston, "created the 45-second commercial, which serves its purpose well." Ortiz "creams each paper mâché animal with a single swing as kids and parents look on in horror, and candy rains down on distant neighbors" (ADWEEK.com, 6/7).

POWER FORWARD: In DC, Joon Lee noted the NBA yesterday unveiled a "line of T-shirts with the logo of all 30 NBA teams colored in rainbow" for LGBT Pride Month. The shirts, "available exclusively on Teespring," are a product of a multiyear deal the NBA struck with the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network in '11. This is the "first time that a pro sports league has given all teams the rainbow-logo color scheme in support of Pride Month." MLB and the NHL previously "teamed up with apparel company ‘47 to release a Pride line of products with a limited number of teams," including the Nationals, Dodgers and Phillies (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 6/7).

PLAYER EFFICIENCY RATING: In S.F., Kathleen Pender reported California-based digital wealth management firm Personal Capital has "struck a deal" with the NBA and NBPA to "provide financial education seminars and its spending management tool to players from all teams." The free online and mobile tool "lets users pull their bank, savings, credit card and other accounts into one place." Players can "analyze their income and outgo on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and make adjustments to meet their goals." More than 50 players are "using the tool" (SFGATE.com, 6/7).
