ADWEEK's Tim Baysinger wrote boxer Canelo Alvarez is "quickly becoming a brand spokesman," as he "has endorsement deals with Under Armour, Everlast and now Tecate." Tecate and Golden Boy Promotions also "worked together to launch an app that will mimic Alvarez's punches, called Bold Punch, available in the App Store." Golden Boy Promotions co-Founder & President Oscar De La Hoya said, "You're including the consumer to be part of the experience. When Canelo lands a punch, you're going to be able to feel the vibration." Baysinger noted the app also "includes a behind-the-scenes livestream and pre-fight locker room content" (ADWEEK.com, 5/3).

ORANGE YOU GLAD: MLS has teamed up with Neutrogena for Skin Cancer Awareness Month to encourage fans and players to protect themselves through the Choose Skin Health campaign. The partnership aims to raise awareness of the risks of skin cancer and will prominently feature the color orange across the league during the entire month of May. Official MLS match balls will have a unique Choose Skin Health decal. Players will be provided with orange Choose Skin Health sweatbands and Neutrogena Cool Dry Sport sunscreen to wear on-field and MLS ball kids will be outfitted in campaign T-shirts (MLS).

KIT TO COME: MLS expansion club Atlanta United FC Dir of Communications Elena Cizmaric said that the club is "in discussions with many domestic and global brands about becoming the team’s jersey sponsor." Cizmaric said that the club "is in the midst of designing its jerseys," and will "reveal the uniforms and sponsor later this year." The team will begin play in '17 (AJC.com, 5/3).

DRIVING MACHINE: Octagon has retained its business with BMW of North America, continuing as its agency of record through '19. Octagon will continue to offer strategic consulting and management services across the brand's partner portfolio, which includes the '16 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams, PGA Tour, America’s Cup and numerous team partnerships across NFL, NBA, MLS and NCAA. Octagon also remains a part of the PGA Tour BMW Championship management team (Octagon).
