Several Prominent Athletes Highlighted In TIME's List Of 100 Most Influential People

TIME magazine on Thursday released its annual list of the 100 most influential people, and Warriors G STEPHEN CURRY was among a handful of sports figures included. Fellow Under Armour endorser MISTY COPELAND penned the piece on Curry and wrote, "Many of our sports heroes are sold to us based on their superhuman skill level. But every so often we get to experience one who combines these superior physical gifts with humility and grace while also letting us into his life to share the journey to greatness with him." Copeland: "My definition of a role model is someone who maximizes their potential to push the boundaries of their circumstances with passion, purpose, integrity and the sensitivity to know they are setting an example for others along the way. Stephen Curry is a true role model" (TIME.com, 4/21). Warriors F DRAYMOND GREEN said of his teammate's inclusion on the list, "That's pretty dope. He uses his platform well. He uses it the right way. Sometimes, you can be in that position and not necessarily use it the right way. He really stays true to himself. He glorifies the things he believes in" (CSNBAYAREA.com, 4/21).

CHECKING THE LIST: U.S. swimmer KATIE LEDECKY checks in as the youngest person on the list. Former Olympian JANET EVANS wrote that when the 19-year-old is in the water, it is "like no one is around her. And many times, no one is." She has a "maturity and singular focus that is an inspiration for people of all ages, in all walks of life." Former driver MARIO ANDRETTI wrote the "most fascinating thing" about F1 driver LEWIS HAMILTON, who made the list, is his "life outside the sport." Andretti: "He’s curious: he has spent a lot of time learning about different cultures, and his own background has helped broaden our sport’s appeal." Meanwhile, musician ZIGGY MARLEY pays tribute to fellow Jamaican USAIN BOLT, while former Indian cricketer SACHIN TENDULKAR writes the piece on tennis player SANIA MIRZA, actress TINA FEY covers UFC fighter RONDA ROUSEY and Cowboys QB TONY ROMO writes about golfer JORDAN SPIETH (TIME.com, 4/21).
