Toyota Becomes Official Truck Sponsor Of MLB Rangers In Multiyear Agreement

Toyota has "reached an agreement" with the MLB Rangers to become the official truck sponsor of the team, according to Terry Box of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. The sponsorship will "highlight Toyota’s two Texas-built trucks, the full-size Tundra pickup and mid-size Tacoma." Toyota Motor Sales VP/Marketing Communications & Motorsports Ed Laukes said, "With the relocation of our headquarters to Plano, becoming the official truck sponsor of the Texas Rangers makes sense.” Box noted the multiyear partnership extends through '18 and "will allow Toyota to have its name on the outfield wall, home-plate and LED signage" at Globe Life Park. Toyota also will have "naming rights for 12 of the Rangers’ parking lots, using the names of various Toyota cars and trucks to identify the parking lots." Additionally, Toyota will be the "exclusive sponsor of video replays" at the ballpark (DALLASNEWS.com, 4/21). Laukes added, "We have found that parking lot entitlement at different places around the United States works very well. From a branding perspective, they’re easy for folks to remember, and they [complement] the sponsorship very well" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/21).
