Buyer & Sellers: Patrick Ewing Lowers Price On New Jersey Home; Zobrist Buys In Chicago

Basketball HOFer PATRICK EWING has dropped the asking price on his home by $500,000 to $6.498M. Ewing originally listed the Cresskill, N.J., home in October for $6.998M. That price is $148,000 more than what Ewing paid for the home "near the height of the real estate bubble" in '07. The brick home on nearly two acres of land "in Tamcrest Estates has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a wood-paneled office, an elevator, a master bedroom suite with a fireplace, and a walk-out basement with a media room, gym, recreation room and a guest bedroom and bath" (NJ.com, 2/29).

CALIFORNIA LEAVIN': Former MLBer AUBREY HUFF has put his home in San Diego on the market for $4.094M. The 8,114-square-foot Mediterranean-style home is "in a gated community in the Rancho Pacifica neighborhood" and has five bedrooms with seven bathrooms. Huff "bought the house three years ago" for $3.7M (LATIMES.com, 3/1)....Golfer FRED COUPLES has put his home in a gated La Quinta, Calif., community on the market for $3.95M. The villa includes "a gated courtyard entry, decorative Spanish tile, stone fireplaces and wrought iron chandeliers" on nearly half an acre. The kitchen and breakfast area features a "vine-wrapped loggia," and the home has 5,200 square feet of living space (LATIMES.com, 2/29)....Chargers G ORLANDO FRANKLIN has put his home in Poway, Calif., up for sale at $2.2M. The estate is on more than an acre and has "a swimming pool, a gazebo, a horseshoe pit and an outdoor fireplace." The five bedroom, five-bath home has 6,500 square feet of living space (LATIMES.com, 2/26).

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Cubs 2B BEN ZOBRIST last month bought "a six-bedroom, 4,800-square-foot, Victorian-style mansion" in the North Center area of Chicago for $1.84M. The home was built in '15 and has four and a half bathrooms, a "fireplace, a mudroom, a heated three-car garage, chair rail and coffered ceilings" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 3/2).
