VARIETY's Todd Spangler reported Golden Boy Promotions President & co-Founder Oscar De La Hoya is "launching a pair of pugilistic online channels under a pact" between his company and streaming service FilmOn TV Networks. The two free, ad-supported channels are "slated to go live on FilmOn by the end of January." The Golden Boy Channel "will feature 2,000 hours of de la Hoya’s fights, and Ring Channel is scheduled to live-stream bouts every two weeks from Golden Boy Promotions’ L.A. Fight Club monthly boxing series starting Jan. 29." Separately, Golden Boy Promotions is "continuing to develop a Spanish-language TV channel, De La Hoya TV" (VARIETY.com, 1/19).

CLOCK MANAGEMENT: ESPN.com's Ryan McGee wrote of NASCAR adding a "Caution Clock" for Camping World Truck Series races, "I couldn't help but think about how Fox producers might handle that 20-minute caution clock during a race telecast. Do you leave the clock on screen the entire time? Do you just throw it up as it's getting close? ... I did an informal text poll with my friends who work in the live TV business and the consensus was to show it as much as possible." One producer wrote: "It's not unlike the old halftime break they used to have in trucks, so it's not that big of a deal; it just adds drama" (ESPN.com, 1/18).

LIFE IN A NEW CITY: In. L.A., Tom Hoffarth wrote of the Rams' search for a radio partner in L.A., "Why not break through the mentality that it has to be a strictly AM base and do more on the FM side?" KLAC-AM has "been the L.A. base for Chargers games in recent years and has the ability to farm games out to sister station KEIB-AM." But "consider instead the opportunities to hook up with a KLOS-FM-type rock music station where the demographics are already in place and the quality of the game broadcast would be much more rich with the stereo presentation." Meanwhile, it is the "usual suspects" for a local over-the-air TV partner when the Rams play on ESPN's "MNF" and NFL Network's "TNF" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 1/17).

NOTHING BUT LOVE: Thunder F Kevin Durant on Sunday during a media session said, "I've seen over the last couple of days, or couple of years, actually, that I hate the media. I actually do love you guys. If I hated someone, I wouldn't talk to them, I wouldn't interact with them, I wouldn't laugh and joke with them, I wouldn't talk about anything other than what you guys ask me." Durant: "What you guys really want is someone who's open and honest with you, and who's opinionated. And that's what I am" (ESPN.com, 1/17).
